| I
have been told I am an artist. I find myself believing it more and more
lately. I am inspired by the realization that each design is an individual
piece of art. Since each is its own entity, each has a special name.
I am an analytical, creative and hands-on person. Creating jewelry remained
one of my hobbies while growing up. However, it wasn't until recently
that I began exploring my interest with beads and silver wire. The inability
to find jewelry up to my standards, is what led me to become a self-taught
bead artist. I crave jewelry with an eye catching look, durable yet delicate
feel with quality elements and workmanship. Since I could not find those
features, it was up to me to create my own jewelry.
Nature inspires much of my work with the vast array of brilliant colors,
interesting textures, unique shapes, vibrant Arizona sunsets, green forests
and flowing streams. There are hundreds of minerals on or in this Earth.
Within my work I have only touched a select few of those. Finding new
stones with different shapes, sizes, textures and beautiful colors expand
my realm of creativity. My overwhelming desire is to continue experimenting
and designing new pieces.
My style can range from a traditional, classic look to an unusual, Native
American feel. My specialty is creating original handmade beaded jewelry,
for both men and women, designed with a variety of semi-precious gemstones,
freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, bali silver and more.
Each bead is carefully chosen and inspected for quality, color and shape
both while purchasing and creating. Some pieces can take an hour or more
while some I can envision and design in a few days. I never just "create",
I am always striving for the perfect piece. I do believe I may have achieved
that once or twice, you be the judge.
Until I transition into a full-time jewelry design career, I am a freelance
graphic artist. I have a background in art, design and color with a Bachelor's
of Applied Art from Central Michigan University. I currently reside with
my family in Phoenix, Arizona.
My jewelry creations can be found in several private collections and exclusive
shops around the southwestern United States.
